(Thursday, May 26, 2005) The Islands of the Turks and Caicos were showcased to nearly three hundred travel trade intermediaries over the past week. These showcases took place in Toronto and Montreal, Canada and Boston, MA. They were part of the TCI Tourist Board's ongoing effort to promote Turks and Caicos Islands as a tourist destination. There are several showcases planned for the remainder of the year.
The three events were very successful as travel agents and wholesalers turned out in masses to learn more of this friendly, safe and "Beautiful by Nature" hot spot. It became evident that the Turks and Caicos
Islands is now one of the hottest talked about Caribbean destinations as travel agents gave updates on the various requests being made by their clients to visit the destination. Some of the travel agents themselves, having visited the destination, reminisced on the wonderful experiences that they had and were awaiting an opportunity to travel again.
Tourist Board's Canadian Representative Rosemarie Wilson organized the two Canadian events. Present at these events were the Director and Deputy Director of Tourism along with the Tourism advisor. Representatives from a number of tourism companies operating in Turks and Caicos Islands showcased their products during the Toronto event. These companies included - Beaches, Ocean Club, Queen Angel, Royal West Indies, Ocean Vibes, Alexandra Resort, The Palms and The Sands. During the evening's dinner tourism professionals from the islands welcomed the agents and thanked them for the business that had been provided thus far. The event ended with a number of giveaways for the lucky winners. The Montreal showcase was just as successful as the one held in Toronto and featured Ocean Vibes, Beaches, The Palms and The Sands, Queen Angel, Royal West Indies and Comfort Suites.
The Boston showcase was organized by the staff of the New York Office and welcomed some seventy travel trade intermediaries who were eager to learn about the new developments that were taking place in the Islands. In attendance at these events were HE Governor Poston, and Hon. Dr. Michael Misick along with staff from the Chief Minister's Office. Mr. Kinsley Been of the New York Office was also present along with the Director and Deputy Director of the Tourist Board and their staff. Industry partners represented included Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association, Grace Bay Club, The Palms and The Sands, Royal West Indies, Coral Gardens and US Airways.
