Their role is to maintain high standards of human rights and respect for the law; promote a sustainable and conducive environment for quality service delivery; encourage a strong civil society and protect the vulnerable.
The code of ethics is guidelines and rules that all public servants should demonstrate as well implement in their daily activities. The Office of Public Service Management’s Executive Permanent Secretary Dr. Hubert Fulford said: “From the Greeks where the code of ethics have evolved we must regard our code of ethics as a guide to our moral conduct. They must form part of our contract to the government, to the people, and to our selves. Therefore they are eliciting a higher consciousness that govern whatever we do or say as public servants.”
The Competency Frameworks are signals from organization to staff of the expected areas and levels of performance that will be accepted in the organization. They provide individuals with a map or indication of the behaviors that will be valued, recognized and rewarded by the organization.
