| TCI 911 EMERGENCY RESPONSE WEBSITE LAUNCHED |
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Thursday, August 13th, 2009 - The Turks and Caicos Islands 911 Emergency Response service has now launched its website at www.911tci.com. For the first time, residents of the TCI will be able to go on the site, submit information about their home or office and receive their official street address.
Members of the public can also submit information relevant to an emergency response such as medical conditions of residents (for example any known heart problems or asthma that may require an ambulance response) or physical conditions (such as gas oven in the case of a fire emergency).
Juliette Gooding, Manager of 911 Emergency Response said: “I encourage all residents to visit the website, register their information with us, and find out their addresses. This will ensure that should they require an emergency response – if persons are breaking in while they are home, if a fire starts and they are trapped, if a member of the family suffers from a heart attack or other emergency medical issue – they can call 911, say their address and shave precious seconds and minutes from the response time.”
The 911 programme, thanks to the help and support of the street naming and mapping divisions of the Department of Survey & Mapping, and particularly Mrs Tracy Ann Grant, Assistant Director, will be making available maps of Providenciales on their website so that persons can become aware of their own addresses and the addresses they visit often.
The 911 programme is also seeking donations and volunteers to ensure that the programme can come to fruition and be fully operational to meet the needs of the community.
Donations can be made by cheque through CrimeStoppers – cheques must be written to “Crimestoppers Turks & Caicos – Donations” and left with any bank manager in the TCI, or by making a deposit at FirstCaribbean International Bank account number 10497077.
