PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Thursday, July 23rd 2009 – The Bankers Association of the Turks and Caicos Islands has today donated US$10 thousand dollars to the 911 Emergency Response Communications systems. The TCIG funded 911 Response project which started last year, needs US$95 thousand dollars to get off the ground as a fully functional emergency service on Providenciales. However, US$125 thousand would ensure that the programme could be rolled out across the Islands, and not just Provo.
The Bankers Association which represents all of the nine banks operating in the Turks and Caicos Islands, make up some 10% of GDP contributions and provide over 300 jobs. The Association is providing the initial donation to achieve this total; however, assistance in the form of financial contribution from the private sector and private citizenry would be most appreciated.
President of the Bankers Association, Mr. Tony Faessler said: “As an Association, as individual banks, as members of the business community and as persons who live, work and have families here in the TCI, we feel strongly that safety and security are paramount.”
