HOTEL STAFF RECEIVE INDUSTRY TRAINING TO FURTHER ENHANCE CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVELS IN THE TCI
PROVIDENCALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Monday, July 13th, 2009 – In an effort to improve customer service levels at the resorts in the TCI, this month the Turks & Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association (TCHTA) joined forces with the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board to offer a special training day for employees.

The workshop entitled ‘Promises’ (a component of the Tourist Board’s Training Programme TIDES: “Tourism Individuals Delivering Excellent Service) was held at the Gansevoort Turks & Caicos Resort; with over eight hotels participating by sending front line staff to the session.

The ‘Promises’ workshop emphasized the importance of living up to guests’ expectations. It also highlighted the significant difference going above and beyond the call of duty can have on an individual’s vacation and thus enhancing the perception of the destination. The training used the figurative theme of ‘promises’: promises made to guests visiting their resorts, how impressions are easily formed, how to communicate effectively with guests, dealing with broken promises and how to be a promise keeper.

Each participant who completed the training received a special certified accreditation from the TCHTA and the TCI Tourist Board to authenticate their course accomplishments.

Caesar Campbell, CEO of the TCHTA expressed that, “The day was a huge success and we were pleased with the attendance from the resorts. Industry training is something that we like to offer to our hotel members to ensure their talent truly thrives. In particular, during these challenging times it is crucial for hotels to set themselves apart and have a differentiator of excellence in service that will ensure they stand apart from the competition. It is remarkable how individuals can have an impact on a family or couple’s vacation so it is essential that we maximize customer service throughout the industry so that we encourage visitors to return time and time again. Congratulations to all the participants who passed the course with flying colours – they are the true ambassadors of our industry and can make a long lasting impression on visitors who travel far and wide to experience the Turks & Caicos Islands”.
