| GOVERNOR WETHERELL PRESS STATEMENT CONCERNING THE FORCEMENT OF THE ORDER IN COUNCIL AND PUBLICATION OF THE FINAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSION OF INQUIRY |
 GRAND TURK, Turks and Caicos Islands; Tuesday, June 23, 2009 – “In my statement earlier this month, I said that I expected to be able to make an announcement in about three weeks time concerning entry into force of the Order in Council and publication of the Final Report of the Commission of Inquiry.
Legal proceedings in TCI concerning publication of the Report and the challenge to the Order in Council in the English courts have yet to reach a final conclusion. While sharing the dismay felt by the TCI public, I can assure them that these delays will not deflect me from the task of implementing, with the full support of the UK Government, recommendations in the Commission's Final Report to restore good governance to the Islands. I hope to make a more detailed announcement in the course of next week.”
