| TCI CELEBRATES NATIONAL HEROES DAY, MONDAY, MAY 25TH 2009 |
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Wednesday, May 20th 2009 – In keeping with tradition and as a prescribed registered public holiday, this coming Monday, May 25th, 2009 will be celebrated as National Heroes Day in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The public is hereby advised to make note, as the day is recognized as a national holiday, with all rules applied.
The day will see to a wreath-laying ceremony at the JAGS McCartney Memorial Park, Old Airport Road, Grand Turk at 10am, in honour of the Turks and Caicos Islands first national hero and Chief Minister, the late Hon. James Alexander George Smith McCartney.
Following the wreath–laying ceremony, there will be a presentation at the Lester Williams Park, also on Old Airport Road - to honour TCI’s unsung heroes of WWI and WWII.
All are invited to venture out, and commemorate the importance of this occasion.
