| LABOUR DEPARTMENT HOSTS WORKSHOP TARGETED AT PRIVATE EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES IN THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS |
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Thursday, December 11, 2008 - The Department of Labour in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Public Safety and Aviation is pleased to announce the "Private Employment Agencies" workshop -targeted specifically at operators of private employment agencies.
Invitees include ministerial fellowships, academics, non-governmental organizations, human resource managers; private employment agencies; employers organizations - the chamber of commerce, hotel and tourism, association, contractors' association; and workers organizations.
The Department' general objective for holding this workshop is to create greater understanding and appreciation for the role/responsibilities of private employment agencies; and foster the use of good labour principles and policies, by private employment agencies, in line with international Labour Standards and CARICOM Industrial Relations Principles.
The Workshop is scheduled for a half (1/2) day on Monday, December 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30p.m at Beaches Resort and Spa in Providenciales. Specific objectives include recounting the responsibilities of a private employment agency; review the essential components of our Private Employment Agency Staffing Plan Outline; and to discuss operating procedures of private employment agencies.
The programme outline is as follows:
