PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Tuesday, November 18, 2008 - In support to the National Clean-up Day on Saturday November 22, an activity initiated by the Ministry of Health and Human Services and the Department of Environmental Health, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DECR) invites the public to assist them in a clean-up initiative of their own.

In consideration of the publics unfaltering commitment to maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic value, and ecological integrity of the streets and beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands, the DECR will be conducting a Road and Beach Cleanup activity on that Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.

Persons are asked to assemble at the National Environment Center (NEC)/DECR Parking lot located at the Lower Bight Road in Providenciales, where the clean-up activity will start from the Lower Bight Park beach, up to Somerset Resort area.

The Clean up activity will include, but not limited to, picking up all trash/litters such plastic bags and bottles, glass wares, papers and cartoons, construction debris (woods, concrete materials, etc.), leaves and twigs among other things.

When the activity concludes, The DECR will ensure that the trash be placed in appropriate bags and disposed of accordingly; hence, no trash bags will be left along the roadsides after the clean-up.
