GRAND TURK, Turks and Caicos Islands; Friday, November 7th, 2008 - The Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands has initiated the process for the preparation of the National Physical Sustainable Development Plan (2009 - 2019) for the Turks and Caicos Islands and has appointed United States based planning consultant firm Village Habitat Design, in Collaboration with ECOS Environmental Design to prepare the plan. A National Steering Committee and Various Island Committees have been established to provide valuable advice and to guide the plan preparation process.
Village Habitat Design and ECOS Environmental Design planning team will be visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands from November 10 – 14 for the purpose of collecting information, carrying out field investigations and meeting with various stakeholders.
The following meetings are scheduled:
Monday 10th. November 2008 - with Hon. Dr. Michael Minister, Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Hon. McAllister Hanchell, Minister of Natural Resources at 10.00 am at the Premier's Office, Providenciales.
Monday 10th. November 2008 - with Mrs. Judith Campbell, Permanent Secretary, Minister of Natural Resources at 2.30 pm at the Ministry of Natural Resources Office.
Tuesday 11th. November 2008 - with Hon. Floyd Seymour, Leader of the Opposition and Executives of the Peoples Democratic Movement, at the National Environmental Center, Lower Bight Road, Providenciales at 10.00 am.
Tuesday 11th. November 2008 - with Mr.Clyde Robinson, Director of Planning, at the Planning Department, Town Center Mall, Providenciales at 2.30 pm.
Wednesday 12th. November 2008 - with Salt Cay Island Committee and a public of Salt Cay at the Salt Shed at 11.00 am.
Thursday 13th. November 2008 - with Grand Turk Island Committee, at the Department of Economic Planning and Statistic conference room, South Base, Grand Turk at 10.00 am.
Friday 14th. November 2008 - with National Steering Committee, at the National Environmental Center, Lower Bight Road, Providenciales at 10.00 am.
